What plant equipment do you have for hire?
We are forever expanding our inventory at Golden Plains Machine Hire as we know not every situation is the same. Mini Diggers to Posi-Tracks, Skid Steers, Excavators, Scissor Lifts, Rollers, Attachments and Hand tools are just some of the items we currently stock for hire. If we don’t have what you need don’t hesitate to get in touch and let us know as we love first-hand feedback and will prioritise obtaining in-demand items!
How long can I hire plant equipment for?
Short answer? As long as you like! We offer Daily, 5-day, or 7-day hires – But if you’re after something more long-term just reach out and we will see what we can do for you!
Can I hire plant equipment in advance?
Of course! We know how costly downtime can be, so with our online portal you can log in, see availability on any particular dates, proceed to check out and pencil it in or call/email us to discuss your needs!
What happens if the plant equipment breaks down?
Like everything in life, nothing is for certain and sometimes things just go wrong. If our equipment is to fail on you through no fault of your own, we will endeavour to get you a substitute option out to the site to keep you going. If we cannot do that we will reimburse that day’s hire and get the machine into the workshop ASAP to be fixed!
I want to hire some equipment but I’m not quite sure how to correctly use it.
No worries, we provide a PDF copy of the user manual with all machinery and most hand tools. This PDF is supplied as an attachment when your contract of hire is sent out, we recommend you familiarise yourself with the functions of safe work methods of the equipment you’ve hired as you are the person responsible for your safety, the safety of those around you, and the equipment itself whilst on hire
What if I need to extend my time with the equipment?
That’s fine, however, we cannot guarantee the item hasn’t already been booked for the following day. We will always try to accommodate availability to suit everyone’s requirements.
Do you do discounted hires for longer periods of time?
5-day hires receive a 30% discount on the day rate of the 5th day, 7-day hires receive a 40% discount on the day rate of the 7th day. If you require equipment for a longer period please contact us to discuss.
What do I need to do upon returning the equipment?
We require the equipment to be brought back in a clean state. E.g. washed, free of mud/debris and full of fuel. Be sure to double-check the type of fuel the equipment takes before refuelling. As stated in our Terms of Hire, if the equipment is returned in a state that requires extensive cleaning and/or fuel, unfortunately, we will have to charge you for that time.
Are you closed on public holidays?
Yes – For single-day public holidays if you organise some equipment for that day, we will facilitate collection/drop off the night before, and allow returning/picking up of the equipment the morning after. for multi-day public holidays please contact us to discuss your needs.
What are my main responsibilities with the equipment?
We do our best effort to ensure all hires have a trouble-free experience by keeping our maintenance frequent. Whilst on hire you are responsible for the safety of yourself and those around you. Transporting the equipment correctly (if picked up), the correct use of the machine, using the machine within its limitations and treating it with respect. This will assist in ensuring it’s available for the next person.
How do I make a booking?
You can contact us directly via email or phone, or alternatively, you can book online yourself. We will require some details including your home address and licence details.
What if it rains?
You can’t predict the weather, right? We get it. If you have a booking and it’s looking grim, we allow cancellations before your day of hire arrives. If you’ve collected the equipment then you’ve consented to use the equipment for that day and it’ll be charged accordingly.
Can I cancel if my plans change?
Similar to the above, of course, you can. However, the only exception would be if it is the day of booked hire, or you’ve already collected the equipment, it’s deemed to be hired for that day.
How do I pay?
You can pay via our Stripe payment platform, completely safe and secure. This will require you to input your card details in the payment section. Alternatively, you can call us and we can facilitate this for you. We are in the process of getting an EFTPOS system integrated.
Can I get a quote?
Absolutely! Call, message or email us what you’re after, and for how long and we will get back to you with estimated costs.
Can I pick up the items I’ve hired?
Yes – If the item is towable or less and you and your vehicle can facilitate this we offer pick up/drop off. Any item larger than 3.5T towing will have to be delivered and collected by us. Our delivery fees can be found on our hire page or alternatively, contact us for further clarification.
When is best to make a booking?
Ultimately the earlier the better – This will allow us to ensure what you’re after is available for you. We do take short-notice bookings however there is a slight possibility it may not be available (even if it still says it is on the hire shop portal).
